A centre to promote pioneering clean technology enterprises that address climate change and create jobs has been launched in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

The World Bank–supported Ethiopia Climate Innovation Center (ECIC), is expected to help over 3.1 million Ethiopians to better cope with climate change.

It's also thought it could lead to the creation of up to 12,000 jobs in the next ten years.

The transfer of modern technologies to local entrepreneurs is expected to boost access to energy for 265,000 people.

And agricultural efficiency could be improved for 120,000 farmers.

Experts estimate that without a proper green growth strategy, the total climate adaptation costs for Ethiopia could amount to up to $5.84 billion per year.
