Palestinian mother Fadia usually dedicates her time to looking after her children, however, she still finds a moment to practice her new hobby; the ancient Japanese art of Origami.
Origami is an art form established in the 17th century. It is based on folding paper to make three dimensional models.
“It was a coincidence. I saw this art, liked it and learnt it. I improved my skills over time,” she told Al Arabiya.
She folds thousands of pieces of paper to make a delicate white goose.
Fadia has perfected her technique and now makes an array of forms using different colors and different types of paper.
“It’s very pretty. It’s a lot of fun, and it's beneficial. [You can make] use of it. You can make baskets, different shapes of trees, fish, birds, anything,”she adds.
Origami directly translates to “folding paper” and was popularized outside of Japan in the mid-1900s, it has now evolved into an modern artistic technique.
