Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a resolution under which Turkmenistan will build a 500-seat mosque in neighboring Afghanistan as part of providing humanitarian assistance to the crisis-torn country, local media reported on Saturday.
The resolution, which Berdimuhamedov signed at a government session, authorizes the Turkmen consulate in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif to sign a contract with Afghan construction company Ghazanfar Construction to build the mosque in the Afghan village of Akina, located in the northern Afghan province of Faryab, according to the Media-Turkmen news agency.
The construction is set to start in November and be completed by end of 2020.
