In the holy month of Ramadan, the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Tatarstan, in agreement with the Federal Penitentiary Service of the republic, brought to the labor colonies products permitted for the iftar, including meat, dates, vegetables, rice, as well as confectionery and tea.
In addition, representatives of the clergy visited prisoners, performed prayers and conducted collective Iftar.
On June 4, Imam-muhtasib Ilgam Minnegaliyev and Imam-Khatib Nurislam Gazizov visited the colony-settlement No. 17 in the village of Digitli of the Mamadysh district.
Together with the convicts, they took part in the collective evening prayer, after which the Iftar was organized.
There are seven mosques and five prayer rooms provided for Muslims in the penitentiary institutions of the republic. The Muslim community of correctional institutions numbers about 500 people. For the believers, the main Muslim holidays such as Qurban-bairam and Uraza-bairam are also organised.
