Tatarstani Mufti answered questions in the Kazan FIFA press center

Mufti of the Republic of Tatarstan Kamil Hazrat Samigullin visited the press center of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Kazan.
Here in the framework of the press conference he met with representatives of foreign, federal and republican media. The briefing was moderated by famous Kazan TV journalist Timur Bikmurzin.
During the meeting, the head of the Muslims of Tatarstan spoke about the spiritual potential of the republic, the activities of the Muslim spiritual center of Tatarstani Muslims, the traditions of multiculturalism and the rich religious life of the Ummah in the region.
In particular, he shared his joy for the opportunity to demonstrate to the guests and participants of the Championship the experience of building interethnic and inter-confessional relations in the society. "We have been preparing for this event for 30 years," joked Kamil Hazrat about the preparation of the halal industry. "Halal standards hotels and many food outlets operate in Kazan. Our mosques are open to all."
"Kazan rightfully claim the status of the northern capital of the Islamic world," Kamil Hazrat added. "The best Islamic educational centers and over a quarter of all mosques in Russia are concentrated in Tatarstan. Here in 922, the ancestors of modern Tatars - the Bulgars, adopted Islam as the state religion. And this became a key and turning point not only in the life of the Tatar people, but also influenced the entire historical course of events of the Eurasian continent. It is noteworthy that in Russia Islam was adopted long before the baptism of Rus. The Tatar theological school is one of the oldest and strongest not only in Russia, but in the entire Islamic world. In the priceless works and views of Tatar theologians, we can draw on the foundations of a friendly and tolerant Islam, in the revival of the values of which the Russian and world ummah is so much in need now."
The topic of multiculturalism and good-neighborly relations was continued by journalists. To their question about this, Kamil Hazrat revealed details of personal friendly relations with Vladyka Theophan. "We have an agreement - we do not argue on topics that can throw us in. There are issues that unite us and require us to make joint decisions: socially significant, spiritual and moral, education of the younger generation, etc."
Since the press conference was held as part of the main football event in the world, media representatives were interested in the sports preferences of the mufti. It is known that Kamil Hazrat is fond of jujitsu and obtained a brown belt. He shared with the journalists the initiatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan in the development of sport among Muslims and their involvement in a healthy lifestyle. He announced that in the coming month imams from all over the Republic of Tatarstan will gather to pass the State Fitness Standards. "The Messenger of Allah said: A strong believer is better before Allah and more loved by Him than a weak believer, although everyone has some good ...," - Kamil Hazrat quotted one of the hadith, while admitting that he likes to play football more than to watch, and prefers individual sports, where a person can show what he is capable of.
Among other things, the journalists was also interested in the consultative status in the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, which was awarded to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan in April this year. "The Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan became the first and the only non-governmental Muslim religious structure in Russia that received such a status," explained Kamil Hazrat. "Assignment of the status undoubtedly serves as a high assessment of the policy implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan to ensure stable and harmonious interfaith, intercultural and interethnic relations and is an acknowledgment at the international level of the effectiveness of the activity of the Muftiyat of Tatarstan in the field of strengthening traditional values of Islam."
