The Cathedral Mosque of Simferopol, the completion of which has been postponed several times already, is going to be fully commissioned by July 1, 2023, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic, Yuriy Gotsanyuk said on the air of the Crimean Tatar TV channel Millet on Thursday.
“We plan to complete the construction next year by the end of March - early May. The building will be fully commissioned in the middle of the year. The object will be completed, and we will open the cathedral mosque, which will probably be the best in Europe,” Gotsanyuk said.
According to him, more than 120 people work at the construction site every day, the readiness of the mosque has exceeded 70%. It remains to complete the landscaping.
“As for building materials, indeed, our friends from Turkey supply these products. It is being certified. The construction begins only after the certification is passed. This indicates that it is being built from high-quality good materials,” Gotsanyuk said.
According to TASS, the mosque in Simferopol has been under construction for the sixth year, the completion dates have been repeatedly postponed, including due to the pandemic. It was previously assumed that it would be completed by April 21, 2022, the anniversary of the signing in 2014 of the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the rehabilitation of the Crimean Tatar and other peoples. In March, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, told TASS that they intended to complete the construction by the end of 2022.
