Parents community challenging constitutionality of the ban on wearing hijabs in schools, filed an appeal in Supreme Court concerning the decision of the regional court which ruled in favor of the ban RIA Novosti news agency reports.

The lawyer of three Stavropol residents, Murad Musayev has filed a lawsuit to overturn the government decree which provides a common school uniform from the beginning of the year. However, the Regional Court rejected the appeal.

"Through the regional court we filed an appeal in the Supreme Court to accept the decision of the Government of Stavropol illegal,"- the official said.

A representative of the Regional Court confirmed the receipt of the complaint. "Complaint received and we prepare documents for the transfer of the case to the supreme court," - he said.

In April, Krasnoyarsk prosecutors recognized that the ban on wearing hijabs mismatched with education law. Prosecutor's office took up the issue after the incident occurred in March, when a student was expelled from Krasnoyarsk State Medical University (KSMU) for wearing hijab.
