Muslim Cinema Festival to be held in Kazan

Fifty films from 45 countries included in the competitive program of the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, which is to be held in the capital of Tatarstan from September 5 to 10, according to the website of Muslim Religious Administration of Russia.

The film festival, held under the slogan “Through the dialogue of cultures towards a culture of dialogue”, is to show films from 45 countries of the world. The main competition included 50 films in five nominations: fiction full-length films, fiction short films, documentary full-length films, short documentary films and a national competition.

The festival will also feature parallel programmes: “Islam in Russia”, “Turkic World”, “Kazan Premieres”, “Transit Moscow – Kazan”.

The programme “Islam in Russia” will feature three documentaries from the cycle “Muslims Russia is Proud of”. These are the films “Abdulaziz Davletshin. The Road to Mecca.” by Abdulla Issa, “Musa Bigiyev. An involuntary emigrant.” by Ildar Islamgulov and “Galimjan Barudi. A commemorative book.” by Galina Krasnoborova.

The programme “Turkic World”, in particular, included the Turkish film “The Beehive” with Meriem Uzerli in the title role. Previously, the film was shown in the competition of the Moscow Film Festival.
