Mosques in Bashkiria will not be closed

Ufa, March 25, 2020

According to the adviser on state-confessional relations under the Head of the Republic of Bashkiria, Ruslan Karamyshev, the government in Ufa does not plan to close mosques due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, all believers are urged to pray at home, as well as avoid crowding and panic.

“Muslims were advised to cancel Friday prayers in all mosques in the city and perform prayers at home. Still our mosques are not closed. It was also recommended to reduce the number of worshipers during funeral prayers, as well as to sanitize mosques and avoid panic”, said Ruslan Karamyshev.

He also noted that they addressed the leaders of religious faiths in the region to limit the holding of the events.

According to local media, four cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Bashkiria to date.
