Meeting of Dagestani theologians was held last Saturday at `AbdulHamid Afandi mosque in Makhachkala. The Majlis of Ulama was attended by representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Dagestani Muslims, imams of mosques of cities and regions, also representatives from the Ministry for National Policy, Religious affairs and Foreign relations, and other government officials.

Majlis began with the recitation from the Holy Quran and collective mawlid. Addressing the audience Mufti of Dagestan Shaykh Ahmad Haji Abdulaev urged Muslims to praise God as much as possible for the opportunity given to us to fully preach Islam and to call to the faith openly, as not so long ago, it was impossible to practice religion. Mufti of Dagestan, who is also Shaykh of Naqshbandi and Shazali tariqas, designated a primary principle in religious and social activities of Ulama and staff of the Spiritual Administration of Dagestani Muslims, that they were guided in their work with sincere intentions and that their every move was only for the sake of Allah. Ahmad Haji imperatively requested senior ulama and imams who have more experience to help those who are younger, and try to work together.

Shaykh Ahmad Haji addressed a number of pressing issues concerning Dagestani Muslims. Such as the observance of adab towards alims and people who have Islamic knowledge, respect towards each other, the rejection of traditional practices that are contrary to Islamic norms. Mufti also said that Muslims should be making sure that they eat “halal food”, as haram food is forbidden and has no barakah. Mufti has not ignored the issue of Takfir. He urged Muslims to refer to such things more seriously, because for each uttered word, man will be asked in Doomsday.

"A lot of Dagestan men don’t pay enough attention to their wives and daughters dress," the Mufti said and called for all to draw to it much attention and try to make that every women who are under their  dependence were dressed in accordance with the Sharia rules.

Ulama raised the issue related to the introduction in the school education system a subject of "Basics of religious cultures and secular ethics." Schoolbook from which children should learn about Islam was severely criticized by the audience. The book contains images of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and even God, which clearly goes against the teachings of Islam. There was a unanimous opinion of the Ulama and the representatives of the Ministry that such liberties are not allowed, and that this book should be removed as soon as possible and corrected.

Majlis ended with the collective dua.
