Kamil Samigullin re-elected as Mufti of Tatarstan

Kamil-hazrat Samigullin has been re-elected as the mufti of the republic, the chairman of the Muslim Religious Administration of Tatarstan during the congress of the regional Muslim clergy, RIA Novosti reports.

The VIII Congress of the Muslim Religious Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan was held today in Kazan. The congress is held every four years. By tradition, the current mufti makes a report for the past four years, and then starts the ceremony of the elections of the mufti. Samigullin was nominated for a third term this year. As reported by “RIA Novosti”, the participants of the congress elected Samigullin unanimously.

Samigullin was born in 1985 in the village of Krasnogorsk, Zvenigovsky District, Republic of Mari El. In 2003, he studied at the North Caucasus Islamic University (Makhachkala), in 2004-2007 – at madrasa (Istanbul), where he becomes the Koran-hafiz (a person who fully knows the Koran by heart), and receives ijaza (certificate of the possibility of teaching Sharia sciences) with isnad (a continuous chain of succession up to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which passes through Abu Hanifa) through fiqh, usul fiqh, aqida, usul hadith, hadith, husnu hattu, sarf and nahwa. In 2008-2013 he studies at Sharia faculty of the Russian Islamic Institute. In 2007-2008 works as an imam in the urban-type settlement Novoagansk of the Nizhevartovsky district of the Tyumen region.

In 2008 he was elected imam of the Tynychlyk mosque (Kazan). In 2011, he headed the publishing department of Muslim Religious Administration of Tatarstan, worked as deputy mufti for scientific work, and was a member of the presidium of Tatarstan Muftiyat, a member of the council of ulama (scholars) of Tatarstan Muftiyat, adviser to the chief kazy of Tatarstan, head of the expert council of Tatarstan Muftiyat.

Since March 6, 2013 he is acting Mufti of Tatarstan, and since April 17, 2013 – the Chairman of Muslim Religious Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mufti of the Republic.
