Kabardino-Balkaria defined the best readers of the Quran

The North Caucasus Islamic University named after Imam Abu Hanifa held a republican contest of readers of the Quran and experts of fiqh (Islamic law), the website of the Muslim Religious Administration of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic said.

The contest gathered the winners of the qualifying competitions that took place in all the districts of the republic during the summer. Mufti of Kabardino-Balkaria Khazrataly Dzasezhev welcomed the participants, noting that the competition gathered the best of participants.

“Today all of you are winners, because you have already learnt to read the Holy Quran. The Messenger of Allah said: “The best of those amongst you is the one who learns the Quran and then teaches it to others”. By the grace of Almighty Allah you have learnt the Qur'an and now are able to transfer your knowledge to others. And he, who knows the Quran, never hurts other people. Our religion teaches us peace, good neighborliness. It is confirmed by the verses of the Hole Quran, numerous hadiths calling us to be good people”, said H. Dzasezhev.  

Then the deputy chairman of the Muslim Religious Administration of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic Alim Sizhazhev announced the rules of the competition, and its participants were divided into groups according to three age categories: under 12 years old, from 12 to 18 years old and from 18 years and older both among women and men.

The jury consisted of employees of the Muslim Religious Administration of the Republic, teachers of the North Caucasus Islamic University and maktabs.

The winners of the competition were awarded with diplomas and prizes.

The event ended with a festive dinner, the report said.
