Islamic heritage competition final to be held in Tatarstan

Kazan to host the final of the V festival-competition “Ilahi Mon”, but only residents of the capital of Tatarstan will be able to attend it in person. On March 28, the participants from other regions, as well as districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, will take part in the festival online, according to the press office of Muslim Religious Administration of Tatarstan.

12 creative groups and 34 solo performers of oral folk art, book heritage and Koran reciters from different regions of Russia passed to the final stage, which is planned to be held at the Russian Islamic Institute. This year the festival is timed to coincide with the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria.

“The purpose of the festival-competition is to draw public attention to the problems of preserving, developing and promoting the spiritual traditions of the Tatar people through the spiritual enrichment of the young and older generations, the formation of a culture of interethnic relations, harmony and continuity of cultural traditions in society,” said the representative of the Muslim clergy.

The beginning of the event is scheduled for 13.00. An online broadcast is to be held on the Russian Islamic Institute YouTube channel. In addition, following the results of the festival-competition, the organizers plan to hold a panel discussion “Divine service and music in the Tatar spiritual culture” on March 31, Tatar-inform reports.
