The head of Dagestan Republic Vladimir Vasiliev was awarded the Order of Merit to the Ummah, I degree, from the Coordination Centre for Muslims of the North Caucasus. Vasiliev received the medal during a meeting with the Mufti of Dagestan Sheikh Ahmad Afandi Abdulaev, the chairman of the Council of Alims of the Republic of Dagestan.

According to the Mufti, Dagestan is one of the regions of the Russian Federation where there are a large number of Muslims. And this award is a sign of respect and recognition of the merits of Vladimir Vasiliev, added Sheikh Ahmad Afandi.

“It is a great honor for me and I will try to justify this award in my future work”, the Head of Dagestan noted, adding that the steady position of the Muslim clergy helps to solve many old problems in the region.
