The Honorable Mufti of Dagestan Sheikh Ahmad Afandi was awarded the medal “For Valiant Labor” for his contribution to the development of the Republic of Dagestan during the celebration of the 100-th anniversary of the foundation of the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (DASSR).

The award was presented to the spiritual leader of the regional Muslims by the Acting Head of the Republic, Sergei Melikov. The solemn ceremony of presenting awards to Dagestanis who contributed to the development of the Republic was held on January 20 at the House of Friendship in Makhachkala, capital of Dagestan.
