Counter-terrorism committee established in Crimea

A counter-terrorism committee has been established in Crimea, Crimea's council of ministers posted on its Facebook account, reports Interfax.

Acting head of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov signed a relevant order on April 15. The committee has been established in the framework of the existing state system to prevent and stop terrorist threats in Russia, Aksyonov's press office said.

"Aksyonov named among the main tasks of the counter-terrorism committee the following: coordinating activities of all state authorities on preventive counter-terrorism measures, participating in the implementation of the state policy on fighting terrorism in Crimea, drafting proposals to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee on amending the Russian law in this sector, developing measures on terrorism prevention and eliminating causes and conditions assisting its manifestation, ensuring security of objects of possible terrorist attempts, and controlling the implementation of these measures," the statement said.
