Contest of Koran readers among children held in Chistopol

Children's contest of Koran readers dedicated to the memory of the first kazy of the Republic of Tatarstan, Gabdelhak Hazrat Samatov, was held in Chistopol. Gabdelhak Hazrat was an outstanding Tatar theologian, who opened the first Tatarstan madrasah in Chistopol. More than 70 children from Alekseevsky, Alkeevsky, Aksubaevsky, Spassky and Chistopolsky districts aged 3 to 15 years took part in the contest, the press-office of Muslim Religious Administration of Tatarstan reports.

The contest for young Muslims was held at the Vostok Cultural and Leisure Center. It was opened with a greeting and parting words to the young participants and their parents on behalf of the imam-mukhtasib of the district, Muhammad Khazrat Kiyamov. He noted the importance of reading the Koran and wished good luck for the contestants.

The Koran evening was attended by the adviser to the Mufti of the Republic of Tatarstan on work with the mukhtasibats (communities), kazy of the southern region of Tatarstan, Razil Hazrat Zuferov, the chief of staff of the Council of Chistopol municipal district, Ravil Muzgutov, and the mukhtasibs of the districts.

The contestants were divided into 4 age categories: children from 3 to 6, from 7 to 10, as well as two categories from 6 to 15 years with a difference in the quantity of Quran juzz.

By the end of the contest the competent jury determined 25 children as the winners. They were awarded valuable gifts: snow scooters, designers, doll houses, paintings, cars, dolls, money certificates, certificates to the toy store, etc. All other participants of the contest received diplomas and sweet gifts.
