The Koran readers contest was held among the residents of Karachay-Cherkessia at the Republican Philharmonic on November 10. More than 30 people aged 8 to 90 years competed to become the best reader of the Holy book of Muslims.

The jury valued the beauty of the performance and the accuracy of the text for those who read by heart. It should be noted that Philharmonic Hall was filled with spectators.

The best readers of the Koran this year were Ruslan Erkenov from the Malokarachaevsky district and Alibek Totorkulov from the Prikubansky district. The winners received the main prize of the competition - vouchers for Hajj, from the head of the Karachay-Cherkessia, Rashid Temrezov.

Each of the contestants received a large edition of the Koran as a gift from the Muslim religious Administration of Karachay-Cherkessia.

The contest of readers of the Koran was held in the republic for the sixth time. Its main goal was to accustom the Muslim population with reading of the Holy Book and increase the level of knowledge of Islamic religion.
