Girl child From the Life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

By Syed Hamid Mohsin / 1 Feb 2013

“On the Day of Judgment ‘When the infant girl buried alive is asked,’ for what crime she was killed.”(Quran, 81:8-9)

Children are gifts of God and His great blessing, but the birth of a girl child is generally seen as disgraceful. The son is preferred over a daughter.  This is totally against the teachings of Islam.

Many incidents reported these days from various parts of the world give us the impression that we, at least in terms of the treatment of women, are going back to a time identical to the ignorance period, the age before the emergence of Prophet Muhammad .

Oasis Hospital in Al Ain welcomes 100,000th baby

By Zaineb Al Hassani / 25 Jan 2013

With hands clenched into tiny fists and a shock of black hair poking out from underneath his white blanket, Hassan Al Omeri has a rather unassuming demeanour given his timely achievement of being the 100,000th baby born at Oasis Hospital.

Although Hassan, who was born weighing 3.4 kilos at 9.52am on January 14, nine days before his due date, will remain unaware of the importance of his birth for some time, it is a mark of how far the hospital has come from its humble beginnings as a mud brick building 52 years ago.

On the killing of children and others, domestic and foreign

by Lawrence Davidson / 28 Dec 2012

Here is part of an Associated Press announcement appearing in U.S. papers on 20 December 2012: “Declaring the time for action overdue, President Obama promised on Wednesday [19 December] to send Congress broad proposals in January for tightening gun laws and curbing violence after last week’s schoolhouse massacre in Connecticut.”

Children are children whether in Connecticut or elsewhere

 by Gareth Bryant / 19 Dec 2012

This recent shooting tragedy in Connecticut, where almost 30 persons, Human beings, mostly children, were savagely cut-down by gunfire, reminds me of the malice that occurs the world over. There are places in this world, where people would probably say, “Almost 30 killed, and that’s it?!!! We get that in about 1/2 hour, everyday.”. It’s very morbid for me to even put that out there, I know. But, for a lot of people, in places like Somalia, Palestine, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, these atrocities occur on a daily-basis, and much like what happened recently in Connecticut, most of the victims, at least 70-90% are in fact children.
