Remember Me and I Shall Remember You

By Mufti Ali Gomaa / 14 May 2013

In our lives we encounter some hard days in which we find ourselves in deep need of resorting back to God and although the invocation of God in all times is the assured path of success and advancement, the human being always forgets about invocation. An Arabic poet once said,

The human was not called (insan) except for his forgetfulness (Nisyehi)…and the first forgetful (Nas) is the first human…

Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to me: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us: from Sufyan: from ‘Alqamah ibn Marthad: from Sulayman ibn Buraydah: from his father: that the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) said:

“He who played backgammon is like one who dyed his hand with the flesh and blood of swine.” (Sahih Muslim)

Wearing a Watch: Which Hand?

By Muhammad ibn Adam Darul Iftaa / 6 May 2013

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

Obviously, it is not possible to find a specific report concerning the watch since there were no watches in the time of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace), his Companions and the early Muslims (Allah be pleased with them).

Help Your Children to Love the Holy Qur’an

Umar ibn Wasil al-Basri that Sahl al-Tustari said: “My uncle once told me:`Remember Allah Who created you.’ I said: `How should I remember him?’ He replied: `Say in your heart, whenever you are alone at night, three times, without moving your tongue: Allah is with me; Allah is looking at me; Allah is watching me.”

Jealousy – A SIN

Source : Navedz.com / 3 May 2013

Jealousy (Hasad) is a disease of the heart. It is, perhaps, one of the oldest problems of human beings. Some Islamic scholars say that this is the first sin that was committed. When Allah said to the angels to bow down to Adam, Iblis refused to bow because he was jealous of the honor that Allah gave to Adam. He said to Allah, “Do You see? This one whom you have honored above me, if You give me respite to the Day of Judgment, I shall surely bring his descendants under my sway, all but a few.” (Al-Isra’ 62)

Backbiting and Slander

By C. Mofty / 2 May 2013

Islam is a religion of peace, love and compassion which teaches us that we should respect the honor, reputation and privacy of others. Lies, suspicion, backbiting, slander, and gossip are destructive, major sins that go against what Islam stands for and sow enmity and discord among Muslims.  They cause hostilities between family members, neighbors, and friends.  Therefore, Islam clearly defines and prohibits them in the severest of terms.

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would put his blessed right hand under his blessed right cheek. He would lie on his blessed right side facing the Qibla.
