Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

Remembering Sheikh Abdulhamid Afandi

Islam in Russia has rich history, which can be traced back to the reign of Umar the second righteous Caliph in the 7th century Hijri. Since then Russia has produced many scholars and learned men who have left indelible impact on the preservation and proliferation of Islam on its territory. From their numerous books, sermons, and continuing guidance for murids, we know how such scholars as Sheikh Hasan Afandi and others have defended the religion and the tariqah institution, cleansing it from false teachings, explained the differences between the pseudo and the true murshids, contributing to the renewal and thriving of the tariqah.

An odd story

By Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi an-Naqshbandi

روي أن ملكين التقيا في السماء الرابعة فقال لأحدهما صاحبه : إلى أين تقصد...الخ . ((موعظة حسنة)) ، صـ 296

Once two angels met in the forth heaven.  One asked the other: “Where are you going?” The other answered: “I am going to fulfill a strange order given to me: in one city there is a dying Jew who wants to eat a certain kind of fish. But this fish does not inhabit the river where the Jew lives. My task is to take the fish from where it lives, throw it into the river near the Jew’s house and make a fisherman fish it out so the Jew gets the fish for his meal.”

Honorable Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

Renowned scholar, ustaz, murshid of Shazily and Naqshbandi tariqahs, honourable Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi was born in 1937 in the Dagestani village of Chirkey in the family of 'Abdu Rahman.

It was time when dark clouds gathered over Islam and Muslims, for the enemies of Islam killed thousands of Islamic scholars (may Allah be pleased with them) including such well-known scholars like Shaykh Hasan Hilmi Afandi and Shaykh Muhammad Afandi Ya'subi. In this difficult period by the grace of Allah, a boy was born in the village of Chirkey.  More >>

Reminiscence of Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

The best of you are those who, when others see them, they are reminded of Allah - Hadith.

The 28th of August in the year 2012. On that day many people cried. Old people cried, who were already over 90 years old, children and women cried, even strong young men cried, who would not have shown their tears, even if their parents had died. One of my friends told me that the father of someone he knows is still crying, and nobody can calm him. Another of my good friends said that his little niece and nephew cried like they would have had their father died.

United by Islam - interview with Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

You know how it happens: you are walking on the street, sunk in thought, taking no notice of the things around you, and all of sudden, as if you would wake up for an instance, you catch a phrase - a single phrase of a stranger, a single sentence out of somebody’s dialog. And it turns out to be the words that you were predestined to hear; the answer to the question that has been bothering you.

The words of a teacher are not the words of a stranger. The question asked might be of no concern of yours but the answer unexpectedly is. In this answer you will find the solution of your problem.

What is Tariqa and Shari`ah? What is the difference between them?

What is Tariqa and Shari`ah? What is the difference between them?

Taken from: Majmu`atul Fawaid by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi.

The reason for this conversation about Tariqa was a letter of Jamal Hassanov from the village of Khindah of the Khunzakh District[1]. In his letter, he asked several questions.

The Miraculous Cow

A short story about how the Almighty ordered the children of Israel to slaughter a cow.

Among the children of Israel there was a rich man named Amil. This man’s only heir was his poor cousin. One day, the rich man was found dead. There were many speculations regarding the motive of the murder. According to one legend, the rich man was killed by his cousin. The relatives of Amil started searching for the murderer. The village became all messed up but they still could not trace the murderer. According to another legend, the murderer left the body out in the wilderness between two villages trying to get rid of the evidence.

Four Things Upon Which the World Rests - by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi ad-Daghestani

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The world rests on four things: the scholarship of the ‘alims, the justice of the rulers, the generosity of the wealthy, and the prayers of the fuqara (people who are conscious of Allah)”.
