The United Kingdom is planning to introduce the study of the Ottoman Empire and Rise of Islam to A Level students at colleges and sixth-forms to next year's curriculum.
Mike Goddard, the history examiner of the UK's national exam board, was reported by BBC Turkish to have had received criticism for always focusing on the same subjects from the twentieth century, and had decided it was time to add more variety to the curriculum.

The wealth of the 10 richest Arabs in the UK has soared by 50 percent in the last year, according to an annual ranking by the Sunday Times.
The Saudi Arabian business mogul Mohammed Bin Issa al-Jaber, who made his fortune in the hotels, restaurants and food industries, was ranked the richest Arab living in the UK, with a fortune of about $10.36bn, the newspaper said.

More than half of UAE nationals feel the UK is an unsafe destination in the wake of two vicious attacks on Emirati visitors to London, a YouGov / Al Arabiya News survey has found.
The results present a striking shift in Emirati perceptions of the British capital, which in recent years had welcomed a surge tourists from the Gulf, with more than 50,000 Emiratis visiting the UK annually.

The number of Muslims in the prison population has more than doubled to nearly 12,000 in a decade, figures from the Ministry of Justice show.
The dramatic rise prompted calls for ministers to investigate whether police and the courts are treating Muslims more harshly, with some suggesting the rise is due to Islamophobia.

Britain's government sought to bolster London's position as a centre for Islamic finance on Tuesday by extending its 'Help to Buy' mortgage scheme to loans that comply with Islamic law.
Help to Buy was launched last year and offers banks insurance against the risk of lending to home-buyers who cannot afford large mortgage deposits.

Millions of British lowest-paid workers are not to benefit from the economic recovery in the UK unless employers stop paying them poverty wages, a new report says.
According to the study by an independent commission, chaired by Archbishop of York John Sentamu, stagnant wages and rising living costs are creating a “double squeeze” on the lowest paid in the UK.

From January to mid-November 2013, the UK's biggest police force, the Metropolitan Police, recorded 500 Islamophobic offences - up from 336 in 2012 and 318 in 2011.
