Iraq's national museum to reopen after 2003 invasion

The National Museum of Iraq in Baghdad may reopen in April for the first time since it was closed after being partially damaged and ransacked in the wake of the 2003 US-led invasion of the country, the director of the museum said Wednesday.

"We've been working on rebuilding the museum in cooperation with Italy," museum director Qais Rashid told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.


Oman gifts African art museum $1.8 million

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art in Washington is receiving a $1.8 million gift from Oman, the largest donation in the museum’s history.

The gift announced Wednesday will fund a series of programs called “Connecting the Gems of the Indian Ocean: From Oman to East Africa.” It will focus on Omani arts and culture and the links between cultures in East and North Africa and the Middle East.


Islamabad to Have Science Museum Soon

The Pakistan Science Museum will be established at Shakarparian for promotion of research in the country.

Summary for approval had been submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology, while allocation of land by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is under way, an official said.

The PSF will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Rome, National Science Foundation, Turkish Academy of Sciences and ECO- Institute of Environmental S&T Iran for collaboration.


International museum of Women art exhibit works to dispel Muslim stereotyping

The online Muslima exhibition, by the International Museum of Women, highlights the individuality of Muslim women and the rich diversity of their thoughts and contributions. The exhibit’s curator says one of the goals is to dispel negative stereotypes.
