Organization of Islamic Cooperation to organize seminar on Islamophobia

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will organize the 5th international seminar on Islamophobia in Istanbul.
 
The event will be held on Oct. 17-18 in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Justice, and will discuss the roots and causes of Islamophobia against Muslims.
 
Separately on Sunday, the OIC condemned the attack on a political rally in Takhar province of Afghanistan.
 
 

Turkey records world's second-highest increase in gold reserves

Central banks in the first half of this year added 193.3 tons of gold to their reserves, the highest level since 2015. With 125.8 tons of gold, Turkey was named the second country achieving the highest increase in gold reserves since early 2017.
 
 

Seljuk mosques display Turkish-Islamic design elements

Mosques in central Turkey with unusual wooden features were built by the Seljuks for the first time in history and have been a significant representation of Turkish-Islamic architecture for centuries.
 
When the Seljuks arrived in Anatolia in the 13th century, they constructed mosques with wooden columns and roofs like those of Uzbekistan's Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) official website.

'Love for the Prophet' exhibition opens in İstanbul

An exhibition of Islamic art and calligraphy never before revealed to the public, “Aşk-ı Nebi: Doğumunun 1443. Yılında Hz. Peygamber” (Love for the Prophet in the 1443rd year of his birth), opened at Topkapı Palace with an event on Tuesday, presenting what its organizers say is the “most important classical Islamic artwork in the world to date.”

 

Turkey to restore Andalusian Muslim prayer room

Turkey will restore a masjid (prayer room for Muslims) in Andalusia, a region that was controlled by its Muslim rulers for a few centuries in the Iberia Peninsula in Spain's southern city of Cordoba, says the Turkish cooperation agency.

In a district of Cordoba dubbed as Mazquit, the masjid is located at the historical remains of Andalusian period of Cordoba and very close to Mosque of Cordoba, a well-known Islamic monument which was converted to a cathedrale.
