dhikr

Dhikr is the greatest obligation and a perpetual divine order

Source : Sunnah.org / 08 Mar 2014

Dhikr of Allah is the most excellent act of Allah's servants and is stressed over a hundred times in the Holy Qur'an. It is the most praiseworthy work to earn Allah's pleasure, the most effective weapon to overcome the enemy, and the most deserving of deeds in reward. It is the flag of Islam, the polish of hearts, the essence of the science of faith, the immunization against hypocrisy, the head of worship, and the key of all success. There are no restrictions on the modality, frequency, or timing of dhikr whatsoever. The restrictions on modality pertain to certain specific obligatory acts which are not the issue here, such as Salat.

Understanding the Characteristic of Humility

By Shaykh Muhammad Abdullah al-Gangohi / 13 May 2013

Whoever asserts tawaadhu’ (humility) for himself, is undoubtedly a man of pride because when a claim of humility is made, it is made after the perception of one’s (supposed) lofty rank. This implies that one believes in one’s personal elevation, hence one is a mutakabbir (proud person).

Three Stages to Tahajjud

By Mawlana Khalid Abdul Sattar / 13 Mar 2013

One of the most virtuous of the nawafil acts of worship is waking up in the middle of the night for tahajjud prayer.  This is that special time when the doors of mercy are thrown open and the angels are dispersed, seeking out those in need of their Lord. Yet, how unfortunate our situation is that we are deprived from this great bounty.

“Their sides shun their beds in order to pray to their Lord in fear and hope…”(Quran, 32: 16)
