“In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people with intelligence”[Quran 3:190]

INTRODUCTION

Ever since the dawn of mankind, we have sought to understand nature and our place in it. In this quest for our purpose of life many people have turned to religion. Most religions are based on books claimed by their followers to be divinely inspired, without any proof.  Islam is different because it is based upon reason and proof.

Two Ways to Success

By Khurram Murad / 8 Mar 2013

The abundance of Allah’s rahma or mercy will not come without pure actions. Pure actions, however, when performed, will make you deserving of Allah’s mercy. This, in turn, will enable you to earn the delights of janna and His pleasure.

Seeking Allah’s Mercy

The Qur’an proclaims: {Call on Him with fear and longing. Surely, Allah’s mercy is ever near to the doers of good.} (al-Araf 7: 56)

Allah mercy and the fragile world we live in

Of the 99 Beautiful names of Allah, it is Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim that we use most frequently in our prayers and du’aa. Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim are both derived from the same Arabic root word, rahma, meaning “mercy, compassion.” Pickthall translates Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim as “the Beneficent, the Merciful,” and Yusuf Ali says “the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

Most of us, unfortunately, take Allah’s mercy and compassion for granted. But if we pause for a moment and reflect on the depth and extent of Allah’s mercy, we will be astonished beyond words.

Allah instructs men to be nice to their wives and to treat them well to the best of their ability:

“…And live with them in kindness…” (Quran 4:19)

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘The most perfect of believers in belief is the best of them in character.  The best of you are those who are the best to their women.’ [Al-Tirmidhi]

Dua– an Arabic word written here in English letters. Three small letters that make up a word and a subject that is large and breathtaking.  This word ‘dua’ could be roughly translated to mean supplication or invocation.  Although neither word adequately define dua.  Supplication, which means communicating with a deity, comes closer than invocation which is known to sometimes imply summoning spirits or devils.

Asceticism is the Way to be Loved

Source : Islamweb.net / 6 Mar 2013

Asceticism, or Zuhd, is to abandon the desire for something for the sake of something which is better, and to abandon the comfort of this world for the sake of that of the Hereafter. It also means that the heart should not desire anything that one does not possess. Knowing that this worldly life is temporary and will eventually come to an end helps the slave of Allah to be this way.

Beneficial means to reflect upon the Quran

Source : Islamweb.net / 5 Mar 2013

Allah says (what means): “[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad ], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.” [Quran: 38: 29]

Reflecting upon the Quran is one of the reasons behind its revelation; it is the way to comprehend its rulings and find out its objectives and meanings. The Quran will not be properly understood, nor will its objectives be truly realized except by pausing at each verse and giving it its due right of pondering to discover the meanings and wisdom within it.

What is Islam?

Source : Agencies / 4 mar 2013

Islam means submission to Allah and obedience of His orders, worshipping Him alone sincerely and abiding by His Laws (Sharia').

Allah sent Muhammad, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, with the religion of Islam. His Message was the last of all messages, and was intended for all mankind every where and during all times. Allah took it upon Himself to preserve and protect this Message from all distortion, change or deformation. The foundation of this last Message is the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. Allah says (what means):

{It is He who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth. That He makes it prevail over all religion}[Quran 61:09].

The Story of Moses and The Guide

Source : Islamicity.com / 4 Mar 2013

One day, Moses delivered such an impressive sermon that all who heard it were deeply moved. Someone in the congregation asked: "O Messenger of Allah, is there another man on earth more learned than you?" Moses replied: "No!", believing so, as Allah had given him the power of miracles and honored him with the Torah.

However, Allah revealed to Moses that no man could know all there is to know, nor would one messenger alone be the custodian of all knowledge. There would always be another who knew what others did not. Moses asked Allah: "O Allah, where is this man? I would like to meet him and learn from him." He also asked for a sign to this person's identity.
