Women from poorer backgrounds are less subject to violence

Women from poor backgrounds are less vulnerable to physical and verbal abuse, according to a study conducted by Salma Al-Harbi on 300 women between the ages of 30 and 34.

The study showed that women who come from poor families with an average monthly income between SR 1,000 and 1,999 are the least prone to abuse, followed by those who come from families earning between SR 4,000 and 4,999.

Ishaq ibn Ibrahim and Muhammad ibn Rafi‘narrated to us – and the wording is Ibn Rafi‘’s – Ishaq said: ‘Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, and Ibn Rafi‘said: narrated to us: Ma‘mar reported to us: from Ibn Tawus from his father from Ibn ‘Abbas, he said:

“Divorce, a divorce with three [issuances], in the time of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and grant him peace) and Abu Bakr and two years of the caliphate of ‘Umar was [counted as] one. Then ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab said: ‘Verily, the people have hastened in a matter in which they used to have patience, so if only we were to enforce it on them.’ So he enforced it on them.” (Sahih Muslim)

A foremost characteristic of life in the home of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was love. Love is the quality most necessary to ensure happiness. When love is present, happiness is assured. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) preferred a life of poverty, which was sometimes close to, if not below, the subsistence level. Listen and Be Supportive

One of the best things a Muslim Wife can do for her husband is be supportive. We all know the famous story of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him; after receiving revelation, he came straight home to his nurturing wife, Sayyidina Khadija, may Allah be pleased with her. She wasn’t on the phone with her girlfriend nor was she too busy on the computer, she was ready to comfort and listen.

 

Malaysia’s ‘obedient wives’ anger rights groups

A Malaysian group urging wives to avoid marital problems by fulfilling their husbands’ desires has angered politicians and women’s rights groups, the New Straits Times reported on Sunday.

The Obedient Wives Club, which was set up by a group of Muslim women, said domestic violence, infidelity and prostitution stemmed from a lack of belief in God and a failure of women to satisfy their husbands.
