In September, 2007 guests from Moscow visited Shaykh Said Afandi (may Allah bless his soul). They asked the shaykh to give an interview for a film about Dagestani Muslims. The film was originally prepared in Arabic language for transmission by a satellite channel to Arab states; the aim of this project is to tell Muslims of the world about Islam in Russia. The shaykh agreed to give an interview, and although the questions and answers were oriented more to the Arabs, we think that it will also be interesting for our readers.
Honorable Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi talks about his first Shaykh Abdul Hamid Afandi from the village Inkho and how he started Tariqa path as a murid. He also touches on some important Tariqa issues.
Address by honorable Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi ad-Daghestani at the majlis of Ulama in Chirkey village Jum`ah mosque, Dagestan, 04 Nov 2006
Dear brothers in faith, not so long ago we went to India on ziyarat. Our guide there was a driver from Bangladesh. He spoke Russian; apparently, he had studied in Moscow. Besides, he was quite a wealthy man, because, in general, people live in poverty there.
Speech by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi on the Ulama Majlis in Chirkey on January, 1, 2005.
Dear brothers in faith! Praise be to Allah, who granted us these ulama, all these talented young men! We simply are not good enough at shukru, i.e. being thankful to Allah. And it is almost impossible to express the gratitude for everything we have heard from our ulama today. The previous Majlis was good, too. They say, if there is an advice-asker, there is always an advice-giver. Allah gave us these people who can teach us something useful. May He grant us the ability to learn it!
Sermon delivered by Shaykh Said Afandi in Chirkey village mosque after Tarawih prayer on 27 Ramadan 2005.
Muhyiddin al-Arabi, may Allah bless his soul, says that there was a night he was spending sleepless in the Qurtuba mosque when all the Prophets unexpectedly arrived there. All of them starting with Adam (PBUH) had come. “This surprised me and I wondered what gathering there was going on”, says Ibn al-Arabi. And he asked one of them, what was the reason of their gathering, what was their goal. And the answer was: “There was a very pious person. His name was Mansur al-Hallajj. And we have gathered here today to intercede for him, to ask the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to forgive him.”
In his well-known book, Al-Hikam (Words of Wisdom), sheikh Ahmad Ibn `Ataa'illah As-Sakandari says: "If He (God) takes you away from people, then know that He is opening to you the doors of His Company. And if He allows you to ask, then know that He wants to give you something".

Sometimes it feels like it’s just too much – these fluctuations in our faith, the repeated sinning, the feeling that “I just don’t deserve Allah’s mercy.”

It has been called ummul-amradh, or the root of all sicknesses of the heart. Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, warned that a person having even an iota of it in his heart will never enter paradise. This deadliest of all sins is kibr, or arrogance.
‘Nur ul-Islam’ newspaper published a letter by Abdulatip to his father. Abdulatip, Najmuddin Gotsinski’s brother, was a great saint. In his letter he tells his father: “Without going to the Tariqa ustaz, it is difficult to remember Allah often.” I personally saw the proof to this.
Sermon by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi in the village of Lower Kazanische, Dagestan
Some people think we do not recognize Abdurahman Sughuri. But who really wants to know the truth, he knows; and who does not, will never do. How can we reject him? Take for example a tree trunk. The trunk has branches. All branches grow on the same tree, and there is no difference between them. Some people collect the fruit on this branch, and the others collect on the different branch. They keep to their branches and do not swap them.
