Divine Books

Allah sent Messengers to mankind and supported them with miracles that proved the authenticity of their prophethood. Allah also sent down Divine Books which contained divine legislations and teachings that benefit people and help them achieve happiness in this life and the Hereafter.

All Divine Books call for worshipping Allah Alone, the Creator of the heavens and the earth and Creator of this great universe.           

 

Fasting the Month of Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. The Islamic calendar, like the solar calendar has twelve months. The islamic calendar is based on the moon (Lunar), while the solar calendar is based on the sun (Solar.)

The solar calendar months are made of 30 or 31 days except for February. The Lunar calendar months are made of 29 or 30 days. Ramadan is sometimes 29 days and sometimes 30 days.

 

Zakaah (Alms giving)

Zakah is the third pillar of Islam. Due to its great importance, it has been coupled with Salah (prayer) in many places in the Quran. In most places where Muslims are enjoined to perform Salah, they are also commanded to pay Zakah. Allah said (what means):

"And perform As-Salah (prayer), and give Zakah, and whatever of good (deeds that Allah loves) you send forth for yourselves before you, you shall find it with Allah. Certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what you do."[Quran 2:110]

 

The Emperor and the Seed

An emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you.”

Why do we read Quran, if we can’t understand a single Arabic word?

This is a beautiful story: An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading the Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

As soon as Idrees got home from school, he ran to his grandfather to ask him about something that was on his mind.

"Grandpa," he said, "I want to ask you something."

"What is it, Idrees?" asked Grandpa Uthman.

"Grandpa, on the bus, a lady was telling her friend how important patience is, and how true patience should be as it is described in the Qur'an. Can you tell me what that means, Grandpa?"

It was a beautiful spring day, and Yasmeen was playing outside with some other children at the park. Yasmeen was homeschooled, and she had a Muslim friend named Hala. They were both on the swing, when Yasmeen noticed some of the kids crawling in the grass. They looked like cats searching for mice! Thinking that they were picking flowers, Yasmeen said, "Hala, why don't we pick some pretty flowers for our moms?" Hala noticed the other kids too, and then without a word they ran to join the others.

He was a unique encyclopedic scientist. He is considered one of the greatest physicians in Islamic culture, and the earliest Arab physician. He was also one of the founders of modern chemistry. He was well-versed in all branches of knowledge and he made significant scientific contributions to medicine, chemistry, mathematics, literature, and so on. For several centuries, his books, especially those written in the field of medicine, the main references for instructors and students alike. He was the scientist and physician Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Zakariyya Ar-Raazi.

 

Bilal and the Colourful Butterflies

At the weekend, Bilal went to visit his grandfather. The two days passed very quickly, and before Bilal knew it his father had arrived to take him home. Asad said goodbye to his grandfather and went to sit in the car. He was looking out of the window as he waited for his father to collect his things. A butterfly sitting on a flower a short distance away fluttered its wings and flew to the car window.
