KazanSummit main platform for cooperation with OIC countries

The 10th International economic summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit" held in Kazan from 10-12 May was attended by about three thousand delegates and guests from all over the world.
Among them are the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Youssef bin Ahmad Al-Osemin, the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates Sultan Bin Saeed Al-Mansouri, the Minister of Investment and Trade of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Majed Al-Kassabi.
KazanSummit received the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin and was identified as the main platform for cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world. At the summit they came to the conclusion that Islamic countries should be able to directly finance projects in the regions of the Russian Federation and for this purpose, the International Islamic Finance Center is being formed in Kazan jointly with Sberbank and the Islamic Development Bank.
"The level of economic cooperation of Russian regions with the countries of the Islamic world does not yet correspond to the available opportunities. Many companies from Muslim states do not invest directly in the regions of Russia, they do this through state funds, and these are only large projects. This does not allow us to interact at the level desired for us, "- said the president of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev said that the banks of Tatarstan will start issuing loans, interest on which will be fully compensated by the state. The specified mechanism will be extended to management companies and residents of industrial parks of the republic, including enterprises operating in the halal industry.
At the plenary session Minnikhanov noted that one of the promising areas for business development in the coming years is the Halal industry, since we want to show that Halal is not only products and services for Muslims, but also a sign of quality, an industry for investments. He added that a large number of Iranian fans will come to the World Cup in Kazan, so special attention will be given to halal food.
In addition, the president of Tatarstan believes that halal products will eventually be in demand in Europe, as the number of Muslims there increases. He noted that Tatarstan and other regions are trying to maintain economic ties with their partners from the United States and the European Union and are ready to develop new projects despite the announced economic sanctions.
