Islamabad to Have Science Museum Soon

The museum will promote basic & fundamental researches which can help in socioeconomic development of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Science Museum will be established at Shakarparian for promotion of research in the country.

Summary for approval had been submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology, while allocation of land by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is under way, an official said.

The PSF will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Rome, National Science Foundation, Turkish Academy of Sciences and ECO- Institute of Environmental S&T Iran for collaboration.

Rs 2.17 billion has been allocated in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2013-14 for the project.

Around 15 collaborative proposals with organizations in Turkey, Argentina, European Union, Uzbekistan, Mexico and Russia were submitted, he said.

Besides, the project also encompasses the establishment of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) science centre and another museum at University of Karachi. According to official sources, the PSF will also establishment five scientific centers in different Pakistani cities.

The project will handle motivational programs for students to engage in creative activities, as well as coverage of scientific lectures, and meetings, in addition to reports in media.

According to a governmental Pakistani official, the PSF is unfortunately facing shortage of funds.
