Tatarstani Mufti shared with journalists ways to combat Wahhabism

The Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin gave some details to journalists during Iftar on the essence of his proposal to recognize Wahhabism as an extremist ideology in Russia.
As it was reported on our website earlier, Kamil Samigullin at a meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia in late March proposed to recognize Wahhabism as an extremist ideology.
His initiative was supported and reflected in the resolution of the meeting of the Council. "To appeal to state authorities with a proposal to recognize Wahhabism as an extremist ideology, and Wahhabi organizations as extremist organizations," the resolution stated.
Kamil Hazrat explained that he proposed to prohibit the spread of the ideology of Wahhabism. "What would have happened if there were no tragedies like Nord-Ost, Beslan, we would have been a neutral religion in the eyes of people, we would not be afraid. While there is an idea of extremism and terrorism, the basis of which is Wahhabism, Islamophobia will continue. Because of this, all Muslims suffer. Therefore, we must fight these ideas," the head of the Muslims of the Republic said.
The Mufti of Tatarstan underlined that the proposal to ban Wahhabism was voiced more than once, "this proposal was just picked up during the council meeting. We must fight not the consequences, but the roots of evil," concluded Kamil Samigullin.
