Tajik President called for modesty in Ramadan

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon urged not to allow wastage and increase of food prices during the holy month of Ramadan.

"I would like to once again call on entrepreneurs not to overincrease the food prices in the holy month of Ramadan, and not to burden their fellow countrymen, because in most Muslim countries during this time entrepreneurs on the contrary reduce prices, as this is one of the pious acts in Islam," the President said at a meeting with representatives of the Tajik society.

He stressed that before the Muslim holidays of Ramadan and Kurban Bayram, some citizens, in order to serve their festive table-dastarkhan, buy up in the shops and the markets, as much food as if the end of the world is coming.

"I remind you once again that such behavior is nothing more than show and wastage," the Head of State said.
