St. Petersburg vandals, who left a pig head at the Juma mosque of the city, could face up to 2 years in prison, RBC news agency reports. They are charged with Part 1 of Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code (incitement of hatred or enmity). In September 2012 Smirnov and Esbotaev made fake explosive device containing no explosives in St. Petersburg, according to investigators.

In November, 2012, throughout the collective Muslim prayer, they left a fake of bomb placed into the head of pig, at the gates of the St. Petersburg Juma Mosque, located at 7 Kronverksky Avenue.

Smirnov was arrested by law enforcement officers at the crime scene, and Esbotaev was exposed in the course of the preliminary investigation. A criminal case has been referred to the Petrograd district court of St. Petersburg for further proceedings.

24-year-old Smirnov is frequent law breaker, earlier he was incriminated for crimes of a violent nature, inciting hatred or enmity, as well as for involvement in illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition and explosive devices.
