In Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan Muslim female students were allowed to cover their heads. It is reported that some parents were in favor of introduction of universal school uniforms, while the other part of the adults did not support the initiative. In addition, the question about hijab was raised. The discussion was attended by Kazi, the imam, religious and community organizations, government and other school staff.

Referring to the constitution, the committee found that there is no mention of mandatory school uniforms, but there is a requirement, stating that there must be a white top and black bottom. Nothing is said about headgear, so there is no ban on wearing schoolgirls hijabs. However hijab and veil should be distinguished from one another.
