Samara city holds interfaith donor marathon

A tradition interfaith blood donation marathon will run in Samara on September 12-14. The motto of the event remains unchanged from year to year and it is "Helping the neighbor brings hearts together."

This action will be held in the region for the third time. Blood donation as an act of mercy and a wish to help to save another life is supported by representatives of such religions as Christianity, Judaism, Islam. This year representatives of the largest religious associations of Russia will take part in the donor marathon: the Russian Orthodox Church, the Regional Muslim Religious Administration, the Samara Regional Public Jewish Organization, together with the Samara Regional Clinical Blood Transfusion Station.

The representatives of Judaism will be the first to open a donor marathon. On September 12, a blood donation will be held in the office of “Care - Hesed Esther” charity organization (4th proezd St., 57, office 218, 2nd floor, Samara).

On September 13, a donor marathon will be continued by the Muslim Religious Administration of the Samara region. A comfortable mobile blood collection complex will be installed near the main entrance to the Cathedral Mosque (54, Stara Zagora St., Samara).

The organizers say that Muslims would be able to donate blood after Friday prayer too. At this day the donators will be provided with a delicious pilaf and tea.

The final day of the donor marathon will be held on Saturday morning in the Cathedral named after the Saints Equal Apostles Cyril and Methodius (260, Novo-Sadovaya St., Samara). Here, near the parking lot next to the church will be installed a mobile blood preparation complex.
