Russia's paragliding season opens in Dagestan

Over 80 paragliders from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan and Kirov regions came to Dagestan, Makhachkala news daily reports with reference to the head of the paragliding club "Sapsan" Marcel Magomedov.

"Every year from 1 to 10 May paragliders, experienced pilots, and beginners gather in Dagestan. Sometimes even entire schools of paragliders come here. Beginners, as a rule, prefer to fly near the city of Izberbash over the Pushkin-Tau mountain, experienced pilots go further to the mountains in Sergokalinsky, Buynaksky, Kayakent and Untsukul districts," Marcel Magomedov said.

Dagestan attracts the attention of paragliders because of the diversity of the landscape and weather conditions. "If there are no flight conditions on one slope, you can always go to another one," one of the pilots said.

Guests arrived from other regions can compete for "Diamond Falcon" a gold medal award established in 2016 by the paragliding club for 150 km of uninterrupted flight.
