Russians are interested in learning Indonesian language

Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Vahid Supriyadi says that more Russians are ready to learn the Indonesian language, reports Antaranews Agency.

“In the past, the Indonesian language was studied only in two Russian universities, but after the Indonesia Festival in Moscow the enthusiasm of the Russians to our language has rapidly grown”, said Supriyadi after meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of education and culture Muhadjir Effendi in Jakarta.

The ambassador said that a number of universities in Kazan are also interested in opening programs for the study of the Indonesian language.

Vahid Supriyadi explained that sending Indonesian language teachers to Russia contributed to strengthening diplomatic relations between the countries.

“We are asking the Ministry of education and culture to open their office in Moscow, as there are more than 600 Indonesian students are studying in Moscow now”, the ambassador said.

In his turn the Minister of education and culture of the country Muhajir Effendi said that he would coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign affairs of the country this question and send their attache to Moscow.
