Russian Orthodox Church to support Muslim community in construction of a mosque

Ekaterinburg, December 30, 2019

The Russian Orthodox Church mentioned the demolition of a mosque in Ekaterinburg. This was stated by the chairman of the Synodal department for the relationship of the church with society and the media, Vladimir Legoyda, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.

Legoyda spoke on the demolition of the mosque, which was previously located near the circus. “Something very bad has happened”, said the religious leader. “We will always support our Muslim brothers, just like they support us”, added the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The head of the Synodal Department called to consider the architectural appearance of Ekaterinburg. One should not give priority only to construction of shopping centers in the city, the religious leader believes.

According to REGNUM news agency, Muslim community will soon receive a new mosque instead of the demolished one. The construction of a new mosque will start in January-February of 2020.
