Today, during the Friday sermon Imam of the Juma mosque of city of Makhachkala, MuhammadRasul-haji Saaduev urged Muslims to boycott recently released new Hollywood film “Noah”. MuhammadRasul-haji said that the film contradicts the norms of Islam, as it is forbidden to depict prophets (peace be upon them). Moreover, it is not permissible to role-play the Prophets because doing so constitutes a means to abuse and degrade the personality of the Prophets (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all).

Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirate, Indonesia, Jordan, Egypt and Kuwait have decreed a boycott on the new high-budget film "Noah" as well. For Muslims Nuh (peace be upon him) is one of the five great Prophets (peace be upon them).

In October 2013, Paramount studio held test screenings of the film, which were attended by representatives of different religious communities. All religious leaders have criticized the movie for the lack of correspondence to the sacred texts, as well as the scene with the drunken Noah.

The stage director of the movie, Darren Aronofsky has changed the original biblical story of Noah. The movie has been made according to his graphical novel.
