Mufti of Tatarstan visited ceremony of opening a mosque in the colony

Kazan, December 4, 2019

Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin opened a mosque in the penal colony of the Mamadysh region of the republic, built by prisoners in three months, RIA Novosti reported.

During the opening ceremony, Samigullin presented the mosque Shamail - an ink-painted Muslim picture, depicting the genealogy of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

“Shamail is performed in the Tatar language so that all prisoners can understand the meaning of the inscriptions. May Allah reward each of us with His grace and allow us to live according to religious norms and requirements”, said the head of Muslim Religious Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Mufti Kamil-Hazrat handed a caftan of a religious figure to the imam working in penal colonies, Nurislam Gazizov, who performs weekly sermons with the convicts.

Samigullin also met with convicts and held a conversation with them on spiritual topics, and answered their questions. At the end of the meeting, religious leaders recited the Surahs of the Koran and performed a collective prayer.

On Monday and Tuesday, Kamil Samigullin visited penal colonies No. 4 of Nizhnekamsk and No. 2 of Kazan. The head of Muslim Religious Administration of Tatarstan noted that Muslim clergy works together with the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service (UFSIN) of the Republic of Tatarstan in order to prevent ideas of extremism among the convicts.
