Mosques in Kabardino-Balkaria are on quarantine due to coronavirus

The Muslim clergy in Kabardino-Balkaria declared quarantine in all mosques of the republic due to the coronavirus, and temporarily suspended collective and Friday prayers.

Two cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Kabardino-Balkarian Republic recently. According to the regional Ministry of Health, both patients returned from abroad, they are middle-aged and are hospitalized now. The condition of one of them is serious, but stable, while the second one has the mild symptoms of the disease. The persons who got in contact with the sick are isolated and being supervised by specialists.

“The Ulama Council of Kabardino-Balkaria decided to quarantine all mosques in the republic and temporarily suspend the holding of collective and Friday prayers”, Muslim Religious Administration of Kabardino-Balkaria posted on its account in Instagram.

It was also noted that the decision was made on the basis of Islamic legal norms, in particular, the right to quarantine and the right not to harm either themselves or others. According to RIA Novosti, the Muslim Religious Administration of Kabardino-Balkaria urges all Muslims to treat the situation with understanding and responsibility.
