Moscow Mufti urged to strengthen work with migrants

Moscow, November 11, 2020

Religious and public organizations in Moscow do not have sufficient influence on local migrants; it is necessary “to strengthen the work in this sphere”, said the head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia (SAMR), the capital's mufti Albir Hazrat Krganov.

“We just remembered about the uncoordinated meeting of migrants at the French embassy. This shows inconsistency and weak influence on migrants in general from migrant organizations and religious organizations as well. Theses migrants do not consult with anyone, rather they themselves are engaged in such actions. And what if there happened any kind of emergency?” - said the mufti during the online conference at the “Russia Today” information agency.

According to Krganov, religious leaders “need to strengthen their work in this key”. Albir-hazrat also stated that “extremism is getting younger” and “it is obvious that our attention is lacking among young people”. Muslim organizations should conduct even more active educational work with representatives of the younger generation”, he added.
