Kyrgyzstani Myftiyat opens institute of Zakat payment

Mufti said that zakat is a charity which helps people in need

A new project “Institute for zakat payment” will be launched by the end of the month of Ramadan in Kyrgyzstan. Mufti of the Republic Rahmatullah Egemberdiev has announced about it during the round table meeting "The development of the principles of Islamic finance in Kyrgyzstan: Challenges and Prospects."

According to him, every Muslim must pay zakat. "If a Muslim has savings - money, precious metal, which have not been used and stored for a year, as cattle or sheep and goats, he must pay zakat - 2.5% of his wealth. Amount of savings should not be less than 118 thousand soms ", - he said.

Mufti said that zakat is a charity which helps people in need. "Zakat will help to raise the social status of people in need, students, sick and orphans" – he added.
