Grand mosque of Dagestan capital announced summer online Islamic courses for children. The organizers plan to hold lessons on the basics of Islam, reciting the Koran and performing namaz both for boys and girls.

Imam of the mosque, Umarashab Arslanaliev, told that these online courses would simultaneously start in other cities and regions of the republic.

Russia has developed a promising new treatment for the coronavirus COVID-19. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the country’s sovereign wealth fund, is set to unveil the new drug, Avifavir, at a virtual press conference in Moscow today on Monday.

RDIF said that the drug, which “has shown high efficacy in treating patients with coronavirus during clinical trials,” had received a registration certificate from the Russian health ministry.

With no official decision yet on this, Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, has cancelled hajj pilgrimage this year, The Jakarta Post reported.

With more than 27,549 cases and over 1,663 deaths to date, Indonesia is taking extensive measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

According to the new rules the believers have to follow the recommendations, when attend mosques for collective Friday prayers, including protective medical masks and gloves, as well as observing physical distancing.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman on Wednesday, the Russian President’s press-secretary Dmitry Peskov reported.

During the call, both leaders agreed to coordinate efforts for the stability in the global oil market. The Russia president lauded the Kingdom's key role and efforts for the landmark OPEC+ agreement last month.

The sides discussed issues of mutual concern and means to develop bilateral relations as well.

Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque will reopen to worshippers from May 31 after staying closed for more than two months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the authority responsible for overseeing the city's holy sites said on Wednesday.

Preventive measures will be taken at the entrance of the mosque, Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, the director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, announced after a meeting held by the Jordan-run Islamic Waqf Department to discuss the latest measures regarding the mosque.

Many stores of the city have carts and baskets, where everyone may leave any products. Then the gathered products are passed on to the representatives of the mosque, who in their turn distribute them to low-income families.
