The Head of Federal Drugs Control Service of Russia Viktor Ivanov proposed to establish the "Global Alliance" for alternative development of Afghanistan economy in the framework of G8.

The representatives of Russian Drugs police have repeatedly stressed that with the arrival of Nato troops the production of drugs in Afghanistan has significantly increased, as well as its smuggling to Russia.

NATO officials explained the impossibility of a tough fight against the production of drugs appealed to the fact that it is the only means of income of Afghan farmers. In this regard, the question arises about the diversification of the economy of this country.

Ivanov said, at a meeting of the Russian Anti-Drugs Committee, that the creation of "special investment fund on alternative development of Afghanistani economy" will be "partial compensation for irresponsible inaction of NATO."
