Delegation from India arrived in Dagestani capital

An Indian delegation headed by the Plenipotentiary Minister in the rank of Ambassador, Deputy Head of Mission in Russia Balasubramanian Gangadharan arrived in Makhachkala on Wednesday to extend ties and interaction with the regions of the Russian Federation.
 
According to the press service of the Makhachkala city administration, the guests were met by the acting head of the city, Abusupyan Hasanov, who expressed hope that the time spent in Dagestan will be comfortable for the staff of the Indian embassy, ​​Caucasus Today reports.
 
In turn, Gangadharan expressed gratitude to the receiving side for the warm welcome and noted that his visit is a logical continuation of the interaction of the two leaders of states. Today it is necessary to continue to increase cooperation in the trade, economic and cultural spheres, the Plenipotentiary Minister noted.
 
As part of the implementation of cultural interaction, it was proposed to hold days of Indian culture in Makhachkala, as well as establish twin-city relations between the capital of Dagestan and one of the cities of India. A special emphasis should be placed on mutual exchange of students within the framework of educational cooperation.
 
"As part of the working visit, the Indian delegation met with officials in the Ministry of Economy and Territorial Development of Dagestan, Agency for Entrepreneurship and Investments of Dagestan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Dagestan and the Dagestan State Medical University," the source said, adding that the plans include also meetings in the People's Assembly of the Republic and the government.
 
The city administration was also informed that currently sixty citizens of India are studying at the DSMU, and over thirty years the university has trained 650 Indian doctors. In addition, the foreign trade turnover between Dagestan and the South Asian state amounted to about one and a half million US dollars last year.
