About 60 people injured during collapse of mosque in Kyrgyzstan

The Health Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported that 56 people were injured

Yesterday, February 3, 56 people were injured in the partial collapse of the second floor of the mosque in the village of Aziz Kumush Suzak district, Jalal -Abad region of Kyrgyzstan.

About 700 people gathered for a commemoration of 58-year-old Kyrgyz Imam Bakhtiyar azhi Yasiyahunova in the Muslim temple. About 150 people were upstairs of madrassas during the ceremony. Old floor could not bear the weight of so many people and collapsed.

The Health Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported that 56 people were injured as a result of the incident in the mosque, 19 of them were hospitalized.

Surgeons, trauma surgeons, therapists and psychologists are working with the victims of the collapse. No data on fatalities have been reported yet. Muslim Religious Board of Kyrgyzstan intends to conduct an audit of all the mosques built at the turn of 19-20 centuries.
