700th anniversary of Uzbek Khan Mosque to be celebrated in Crimea

Festive events dedicated to the 700th anniversary of Khan Uzbek  Mosque - one of the oldest temples of Eastern Europe will be held in Crimea in 2014. The decision was made at a plenary meeting of the Verkhovnaya Rada of Crimea.

According to the chairman of the Supreme Council of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, the decision will contribute not only to the preservation of the Muslim shrines, but also to the strengthening of tolerant relations between people of different nationalities and faiths of Crimea.

The Supreme Council of Crimea also instructed the General Directorate of the National Bank of Ukraine to release a commemorative coin dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the mosque, and the Crimean Directorate of "Ukrpochta " to print the commemorative postage stamps.
