10 points on Jihad

By Dr. M. Amir Ali / 23 Feb 2013

In the linguistic sense, the Arabic word “jihad” means struggling or striving and applies to any effort exerted by anyone. In this sense a student struggles and strives to get an education and pass course work; an employee strives to fulfill his/her job and maintain good relations with his/her employer; a politician strives to maintain or increase his popularity with his constituents and so on.

The Virtue of Nurturing Girls

Source : Islamweb.net / 21 Feb 2013

Allah willing, will be about a righteous good deed, and whoever performs it perfectly, according to its required conditions, will attain three things:

First: he will be veiled from Hell and never enter it.

Second: on the Day of the Greatest Terror, (i.e. the Day of Judgment), he will be gathered in the company of the Prophet .

Third: Paradise will be guaranteed for him, where he will be in the company of the Prophet .

Ten Good Deeds

1. Sitting After Subuh Salah

"Whomsoever prays Al-Ghadaa (Fajr) in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until sunrise, then prays two rak'ats of Salah has a complete reward of Hajj and Umrah."The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated the word 'complete' three times for emphasis. (TIRMIDHI)

Speech on Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.s.) and message of Islam

Source : Iqrasense.com / 19 Feb 2013

There have been many biographies written and speeches given on Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)that have provided a glimpse of his life, the role that he played as a Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the message that he brought for mankind. However, the speech delivered by Ja‘far bin Abi Talib to the Christian king of Abyssinia (Ethiopia) in the 7th century to date is referenced as one of the most succinct and eloquent speeches that captured the moments of that era, and expressed the message of Islam concisely and clearly.

The Conditions of La ilaha illa-llah

There is no question that the mere saying of, "I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and messenger," is not sufficient for salvation. In fact, the hypocrites used to make this statement quite often yet Allah describes them as liars and says that they shall abide in the lowest abyss of the Hell-fire.

Health dangers of tattoos and its prohibition in Islam

By Amal Al-Sibai / 16 Feb 2013

Unhealthy practices, some even prohibited in Islam, are slowly creeping into our society; and it will take more awareness, education, and open dialogue to stay alert and stop these problems in their tracks before they spread.

Tattooing is viewed in the west as a harmless form of body art, an aesthetic procedure, a normal part of growing up for most adolescents.

Recently, tattooing has started appearing in Arab and Muslim societies as well. Apparently, it is extremely difficult but not impossible to find a place to get a tattoo done here in Saudi Arabia.

How to Enjoy a Productive Weekend

By Tushar Imdad-ul-Haque Bhuiya / 16 Feb 2013

Here are my top 5 suggestions for weekend activities, which are all in line with Islamic virtues.

#1 Increase Your Worship

Free time at the weekend is a blessing. We all would love more free time. A secret of the pious is that whenever they want to increase a blessing they give shukr for it, due to Allah’s (glorified and exalted be He) promise in the Qur’an:

‘If you are grateful to Me, I shall certainly increase you (in favour).’[Quran: Chapter 14, Verse 7]

The Pleasures of Paradise

By M. Abdulsalam / 16 Feb 2013

The reality of Paradise is something which people will never be able to understand until they actually enter it, but God has shown us glimpses of it in the Quran.  He has described it as a place essentially different to the life of this world, both in the very nature and purpose of life, as well as the types of delights which people will enjoy therein.

The Quran tells people about Paradise, which Allah offers to them, describes its great blessings, and proclaims its beauties to everyone.  It informs people that Paradise is one of two ways of life prepared for them in the afterworld, and that every good thing will be theirs in Paradise to a degree that surpasses our present ability to imagine.  It also shows that Paradise is a place where all blessings have been created perfectly and where people will be offered everything their souls and hearts will desire, and that people will be far removed from want and need, anxiety or sadness, sorrow and regret.

The Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and helping the poor

By Sami Zaatari / 15 Feb 2013

One of the most widespread and dangerous problems faced by humanity is that of poverty, hunger and starvation. There is nothing more horrifying than the realization that as we live our happy lives here, millions of our fellow human beings live in hunger and face starvation. The majority of the world population today lives in poverty. It is clear that the world system we have set up today is unjust and inhumane.
